9th UK-China International Particle Technology Forum / 18th Particle Technology Early Career Forum

The 9th UK–China International Particle Technology Forum is the 9th in a series since it started in Leeds, UK in 2007. The conferences aim to promote collaboration and interchange between the UK and China and to share advanced information on the frontiers of both revolutionary technologies and fundamental theories on particles and powders, to provide solutions to challenges of sustainable future manufacturing. The Conference theme is “From advanced Particles and Powder Process towards Powder Technology in Industry 4.0”. It will focus on the emerging opportunities and challenges in advanced powder characterisation and simulations, and the application of both these and established knowledge to industrial processes. The aim will be to improve and advance the practice of powder technologies across the whole spectrum or manufacturing from pharmaceuticals to mining and minerals, including energy, food, chemicals, power generation, waste, environment, and all other sectors that process powders and bulk solids. However, we expect a particular interest in applications to advanced manufacturing including Additive Manufacturing, Food, Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare.

China has the biggest manufacturing economy in the world; by contrast the UK has world leading technologies on powders and powder process. This conference gives us excellent opportunities to promote the exchange of technical and scientific information in the academic and industrial sectors in the fields of characterising particles, powder testing, digitalisation and simulations, mechanical behaviour of bulk materials, powder multiphase flow, process of nano-micro particles, etc. This is also designed to foster business and research collaboration opportunities around the world, not just limited to China and the UK.

The conference will be held jointly with the 18th Particle Technology Early Career Forum supported by IChemE (PTSIG), UK to promote and bring together early career researchers to discuss the latest achievements and the future challenges in the area of Particle Technology.

The conference is at the University of Greenwich, adjacent to our World Heritage Site of Greenwich Maritime, near the heart of London. We expect several few hundreds of participants involved in presentations, plenary and keynote lectures, a combined space for networking, exhibition and poster display, and a busy social programme.

This event is organised by The Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China and supported by Chinese Society of Particuology (CSP), China, IChemE, UK and many other association
