Conference Dinner & Social Events
Alongside the conference programme there are a number of social events.
Welcome Reception - Queen Mary Undercroft
Date: Mon 10 September 2018
Time: From 7pm
The Queen Mary Undercroft which is located beneath the Chapel. This elegant space, with its stone columns and wood flooring, was used as a dining area for over 640 Greenwich Pensioners in 18th century when the Old Royal Naval College was the Royal Hospital for Seamen.
The reception will be a chance to register for the conference and network with other delegates during a drinks reception.
This reception is included in the registration fee. Please let us know if you are attending on your registration form.
We are pleased to announce that string quartet The Garden of England Quartet will play at the welcome reception
The Garden of England Quartet was founded in 2018 by a group of friends who originally met through the City of Rochester Symphony Orchestra. Our aim is to put on high quality performances of our favourite classical works. We love communicating through music and believe that our friendship is reflected in the harmony and joy of our playing. We are: Svetlana Sakhnevych (first violin), Mel Kyle (second violin), Elisabeth Sadler (viola) and Poppy Smith (cello)
Conference Dinner - Leeds Castle
Date: Weds 12 September 2018
Time: 7:30pm – pre dinner drinks, dinner 8.15pm (coaches to leave Uni of Greenwich at 5pm)
Midnight – departure from Leeds Castle (expected back at Greenwich approx 1am)
Coaches will take us to the loveliest castle in the world. Leeds Castle has been a Norman stronghold; the private property of six of England’s medieval queens; a palace used by Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon; a Jacobean country house; a Georgian mansion; an elegant early 20th century retreat for the influential and famous; and in the 21st century, it has become one of the most visited historic buildings in Britain.
A three course dinner will be held in The Fairfax Hall, which is an immaculately restored Kentish timber-framed barn that dates from 1680. With sweeping views from its terrace across the moat to the castle.
Dinner will be followed by entertainment in the Terrace room. The entertainment will be an award winning band The Redfords.
The cost to attend this evening is £95 to include coach travel, drinks reception, 3 course meal and entertainment
